Book Review: The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine

If something is too good to be true, it probably is.

The Last Mrs. Parrish is a fresh and addictive psychological thriller with surprising twists and a satisfying ending.

This book is about Amber Patterson, a manipulative woman who worms her way into the lives of a wealthy “golden couple” from Connecticut to achieve the privileged life she wants.

Amber feels that she deserves more. She wants a life of money and power like her new friend, the blond-haired, blue-eyed stunning Daphne Parrish.

Daphne and her husband Jackson live in a fairytale. They have money, power, and they are deeply in love. They are blessed with two lovely young daughters, Tallulah and Bella. They have multiple luxurious homes with beautiful furniture, exotic cars, household staff, designer clothes, and everything that money can buy.

Amber befriends Daphne and before long, Amber is Daphne’s BFF, traveling to Europe with the Parrish family, and growing closer to Jackson.

Will she become the next Mrs. Parrish and get everything that she’s ever wanted?

I really enjoyed this book and binge read it over two nights.

This book begins with a very typical story of a gold digging, cunning and manipulative woman who has set her sights on another woman’s husband.

Amber Patterson is the woman that every other woman LOVES to HATE.

As she befriends Daphne, and Daphne opens up her heart, her home, her family, and her entire world to her, I thought, DAPHNE!! YOU ARE SO STUPID, HOW CAN YOU *NOT* SEE THAT SHE IS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF YOU AND IT’S TOTALLY OBVIOUS THAT SHE WANTS YOUR HUSBAND!!!!

I loathed Amber with a passion, especially because of her husband stealing motives. There is nothing that I hate more than this kind of woman, because at one time in my life, I was the Daphne that Amber saw.

The engaging writing and the fast moving pace made me binge on this train wreck.

As Amber gets her claws into Jackson Parrish and starts to execute on her grand plan, edge Daphne out of her own life and WIN, I shook my head in frustration and thought, I need to keep going, I didn’t come all this way to read about a typical homewrecker story and a husband leaving his wife for a younger woman.

I was not disappointed. The first half of the story is told from gold digging, scheming Amber’s perspective. I have to admit that she orchestrated everything perfectly. I hated her! She is a good homewrecker.

The second part is narrated by Daphne and brings a new perspective to the events as she bares her soul to the reader. Aha! Amber has underestimated Daphne, and I gained respect and admiration for Daphne in her section. Things aren’t always what they seem, and thankfully so!

In Daphne’s section I knew that my patience paid off on my reading, and I practically cheered when she revealed some key details. Everything made sense and I loved it.

The ending was SO GOOD.
